Snakefly (Raphidioptera)
This is an extremely rare snake fly found in amber. It is the largest known snakefly from the cretaceous period. Snake flies have an average wing length of 7.5 millimeters. Our snakefly wing measures 30 millimeters. It is very rare for very large creature to get captured by amber as larger creatures can break free from the sticky resin. Possibly this snakefly was attacked and simply fell into the resin.
